Client: Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
Scope: Construction of Philadelphia's first "green" street on the 800 block of Percy Street in South Philadelphia. This project showcased porous paving, a specially designed pavement system that allows water to infiltrate through the pavement and never become runoff. This system provides the structural support of conventional asphalt pavement, but is constructed of a porous surface and an underground stone reservoir. The project also included the reconstruction of sanitary sewer, water main relay, new concrete curb and sidewalks.
